The Fat Angel (song
on Nettwerk's Donovan Tribute cd)
June 26, 1992
Buy Now !
I
originally really wanted to do 'The
Season Of The Witch',
however
D.O.A. had reserved that song
so we were told
to choose
again and keep it three and
a half minutes or
shorter in
length. In the spirit of
youthful rebellion, and in
protest
of being ousted for our
first choice, our version of
'The Fat
Angel' clocked in at 7:51.
Granted that includes
the Traci
Lords loops at the end.:)
It was engineered and mixed by Ken 'Hiwatt' Marshall at
Mushroom Studios and he and I had alot of fun smoking
the mix into new realms of utter absurdness.
Subsequently D.O.A.'s version
of 'Season Of The Witch'
never made
it on the compilation and
was never mentioned again.

I was never really happy with
this recording due to
it's being recorded 'live to
DAT tape', which I was
opposed to. After
singing/screaming the same songs
over 5-6 times each, my voice
was hardly at it's best.
Coast 1040 radio commented
"The vocals are too rough."
As well the cover art changed
so much from my original
concept due to being outvoted
1 to 5 in our bizarre
version of democracy (long
story :)
Still it is a record of our
songs and a testament to
the band's wicked tightness
and high energy
(as well as stubborness :)

Ghede-(song on Bovine Select
Cuts cassette tape
compilation 1992)
Re-release 2007 NVE.
Windwalker-Ghede.mp3
One of my favourite recordings with
Windwalker, this song paved
the way for the sound of the next album 'The Sandglass'.
The lyrics revolve around a real life personal tragedy and spiritual
experiance that although screwed me up for a good ten years,
also made me strive to become a better person. Ghede is the
voodoo god of the dead and ancestors, and would become the
main theme of my current musical troupe 'Les Barons'.
Although the themes of Voodoo,Santeria and Candomble' theology
would persist and indeed come to the forefront of my band after
Windwalker called 'The
Technicians Of The Sacred'.

Bang When You're Ready
(cassette tape) 1992
The name of this
recording comes from the fact that when
we recorded it in the Nettwerk rehearsal studios we only
had one way communication between the two rooms. Therefore
I would hear the engineer through my headphones, but couldn't
talk back. So we worked out a system where the engineer would say
"Bang when you're ready", I would pound on the wall and he would
start the record button. As far as I can remember most of the songs
were covers, and the recording was ok, but not enough to please me
at the time. Original cassette cover was different, I am still trying
to
locate the original cover Anthony made. Thanks to Anthony for sending
me a copy of the 'Ghede' mp3.:)

The Sandglass (unreleased and
lost last album by Windwalker)1993
The very
best and definitive (not to mention the
only full length multitracked)
Windwalker release. Recorded
at First Music studios and engineered by
Vincent Gatti,
who would later also
do The Technicians Of The Sacred's cd
"Respect The Unexpected".
I can still remember some of
the classic songs like 'The Sandglass" and
"Rite Of Passage"
and I am still looking for the
long lost tapes.
